Product Engineer - Applications

Conducts engineering activities related to product design such as 3D model and drawing creation, engineering specification, design reviews, engineering cost estimates, development timing determination, and support testing for value added engine systems including, but not limited to, cooling packages, air intake systems, exhaust systems, controls systems, wire harnesses, mounting systems and all associated hardware. Works to develop and validate new designs and design improvements. Performs testing of new and improved designs to ensure conformance to application guidelines for vibrations, temperature, pressure and other performance parameters. Provides engineering assistance to Isuzu related companies and departments when needed. Evaluates technical content, determines engineering specifications, evaluates alternative designs and makes recommendations. Creates designs, 3D models, 2D dimensioned drawings and leads design reviews. Works with suppliers to ensure design and GD&T meet requirements while maintaining cost effective manufacturability and time schedules. Coordinates design projects to meet schedules, resolves problems and makes effective decisions. Reports activities and decisions to manager for direction and/or approvals. Coordinates prototype designs including ordering parts and assembling prototype parts on engine or power unit. Validates designs for fit, form and function. Conducts validation testing as required and documents and reports validation results. Releases designs and provides information for proper documentation of engineering designs. Supports quality engineering and applications and sales teams. Maintains and coordinates assigned projects and related schedules.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Minimum three years of related experience, automotive or off-highway industry preferred. Familiar with CAD/CAM design system; SolidWorks preferred. Plate and sheet metal bending design. Air intake system and exhaust system design. Exposure to data acquisition and vibration equipment a plus. Exposure to wiring harness design a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills. Proficient PC skills in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications; internet research. Proficient in CAD and GD&T. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to meet project deadlines and milestones and to use tools for assembling engine system components. Service Trainer

Conducts training classes for dealers in Central America & Caribbean (in both Spanish & English), fleets, and internal employees. Includes coordination of training materials, components, tools, classroom logistics, etc. Training topics related to construction, function, diagnosis, and repair of different vehicle systems including: diesel engine and emissions, transmission (manual/automatic), basic and advanced electronics, hydraulic and air braking systems, chassis, suspension, steering, and driveline, air conditioning, usage of Isuzu service-related tools, non-technical training (Service Advisor, Service Manager, etc.). Assists Curriculum Developer to create, update and maintain service technical training materials for complete commercial vehicle sold by Isuzu dealer network. This includes, but is not limited to: hands-on training materials, student processes, and testing methods; translating material from English to Spanish; Computer-based training modules. Conducts, trains, and implements Isuzu Dealer Standards (IDS) focused on aftersales business. Provides technical assistance to dealers including troubleshooting and repair procedures in coordination with International Service Department-Isuzu Japan. Bachelor's degree in Automotive or Diesel Technology or equivalent directly related work experience. Minimum three years experience in product support for a company that sells and services automotive technical and/or diesel engine related products. Minimum three years experience as a repair technician or equivalent directly related work experience, preferably as an instructor, automotive engineer or skilled technician (ASE certification preferred). Strong knowledge of diesel/IC engine and powertrain systems. Knowledge of dealer service operations. Basic knowledge of structuring and delivering instructional or educational materials. Basic project management and budget administration knowledge. Understanding of service and parts operations including warranty systems and claims. Proficient PC skills in all Windows applications (database, graphics, presentation, spreadsheet and word processing). Excellent written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills. Fluent in both Spanish and English. Strong mechanical and technical skills. Effective negotiation and problem resolution skills. Ability to work on numerous projects/tasks concurrently. Must have Class E driver's license and additionally have or have the ability to obtain Class A, Class B, or Class C driver's license, and maintain acceptable driving record. Commodity Buyer

Under general supervision, performs all business-related issues with Isuzu suppliers including pricing, delivery, and quality of the parts purchased. Contributes as a team member by providing active support and assistance to all members of purchasing, promoting cross-functional knowledge, and teamwork. Performs all aspects of sourcing to meet the needs of engineering and production. Based on quality, cost, and delivery evaluations, prepares and makes sourcing recommendations. Senior Engineer, CV Engineering

Designs components or parts for commercial vehicles. Familiarity with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)/American Standard Test Method (ASTM). Basic operational skills with CAD/CAM design systems; Siemens NX & TcAE or similar. Familiarity with simulation software and common diagnostic equipment.
